With the Davidoff Puro Dominicano, Davidoff turns its attention fully to its home base. Introduced in 2026, this new addition to the portfolio places the Dominican Republic at the center of the narrative, drawing exclusively from its soils and showcasing a breadth of character that often remains understated.
It is also the first new release within the Davidoff Black Band Collection in a decade, joining established lines such as Davidoff Nicaragua, Davidoff Escurio, and Davidoff Yamasá. While those cigars explore different origins and influences, Puro Dominicano concentrates entirely on one country, offering a focused interpretation shaped by experience and long-term development.
A blend rooted in six terroirs
At the core of the project lies an idea that feels both simple and ambitious: a puro composed entirely of Dominican tobaccos, selected from six distinct terroirs. The Dominican regions of Martín Garcia, Villa González, Mao, Piloto, Navarrete, and Yamasá each contribute leaves with their own identity, shaped by local soil and climate conditions.

This diversity is essential to the cigar’s character. From the humid valleys of Yamasá to the warmer, elevated areas of Mao, the variations in environment allow for a broad spectrum of aromas. Some areas yield softer, creamier profiles, while others produce tobaccos with more structure and spice. Bringing these elements together requires careful calibration, supported by extensive aging that reaches a combined total of 32 years.
The result reflects both the range of Dominican tobacco and the precision involved in assembling it into a coherent blend. It also highlights how much depth can be achieved within a single origin when the right conditions and expertise come into play.

Formats with distinct roles
The line is available in three formats, each offering a different perspective on the blend. The Short Robusto presents a more immediate expression, with a compact format that brings the various components together in a shorter timeframe.

The Corona Larga introduces a more measured pace. Its slimmer ring gauge and extended length allow the blend to unfold gradually, while its 44 ring gauge serves as a reference to the year 1844, marking the independence of the Dominican Republic.
The Perfecto completes the range with a shape that requires considerable craftsmanship. Its tapered form influences the way the cigar develops, placing emphasis on different elements of the blend as the burn progresses.
Presentation and direction
Presentation follows the visual identity of the Black Band Collection. The cigars are housed in black wooden cabinet boxes of twelve, accented by a yellow line inspired by Dominican amber. The same detail appears on the cigar bands, creating a consistent link between concept and design. Packs of five are also available, and Davidoff has introduced a more environmentally considerate carton outer packaging.

A focused expression of Dominican craft
The Puro Dominicano reflects a clear direction. It brings attention to the range and potential of Dominican tobacco through a blend that relies entirely on local sources and long-term aging.
For aficionados, it offers an opportunity to explore a different dimension of a familiar origin. The emphasis lies on structure, balance, and the interplay between terroirs, rather than on any single defining note.
Within the Davidoff portfolio, this new line finds its place through that clarity. It is a study of origin, shaped by patience and guided by a steady hand, with the Dominican Republic at its core.
