Davidoff Puro Dominicano Corona Larga

Davidoff Puro Dominicano Corona Larga 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Davidoff Puro Dominicano line is dedicated entirely to the Dominican Republic. Launched as a tribute to the island’s rich tobacco heritage, the blend draws exclusively on Dominican-grown leaves, making it a rare purist statement from a house more often associated with complex multi-origin compositions.

In detail, the blend is made up of a Yamasá wrapper, over a Martín Garcia binder, and fillers from Mao, Navarrete, Piloto, and Villa González. The three sizes are unique to this line.

The cigars are rolled in an oily Colorado wrapper that is smooth to the touch. The filling is generous, with almost no give when squeezed, and the draw is perfect.

Davidoff Puro Dominicano Corona Larga: the cold draw reveals hay, cocoa, and a bit of spice. Once lit, it opens with a fair amount of pepper, cocoa, and leather.

An espresso note, along with wood, is added further into the first third. There is also a light sweet nuance perceptible in the retro hale. The strength is a solid medium (3/5).

The black pepper mellows out a bit in the second third and earth is introduced, while a subtle sour cream note appears in the background. The strength remains medium.

The spices return in full swing in the last third, disguised as chili spices, while the mix of leather, espresso, earth and wood take a step back. The strength grows to a medium-full (4/5).

Overall, the Davidoff Puro Dominicano Corona Larga shows that a Dominican puro can be full-bodied and flavorful. It is a complex, layered smoke, with the strength working in favor of the flavors and never overshadowing the profile.
