The exclusive Maravillas No. 4 vitola de galera is packaged in varnished slide-lid boxes containing 10 cigars.
The wrapper is immediately striking, oily, and toothy with a deep Colorado Maduro color. Construction is uniform, with a very generous filling throughout.

Cocoa and earth dominate the palate, accompanied by nuances of leather. The retrohale delivers a pleasant spice kick. Strength sits at a medium-light level (2/5).
The cocoa and earth persist, though the profile begins to shift. Notes of wood and vegetal character emerge, and unfortunately so do some combustion issues. Body remains elusive at this stage, leaving the smoke feeling somewhat thin despite the complexity of aromas. Strength remains unchanged.
The flavor profile remains largely unchanged from the second third, continuing to lack body. The spices, however, pick up noticeably towards the finale, offering a welcome change for the last couple puffs. Strength ends up on a medium level (3/5).
Overall, the Hoyo de Monterrey Monterreyes No.4 Edición Limitada 2021 is a cigar of two halves. The promising opening, rich in cocoa, earth, and leather, gives way to a middle third that loses its footing in body and complexity. The spice-driven finale partially redeems it, but the lack of body throughout and the construction hiccup prevent it from reaching the heights expected of a limited release.
