Laura Chavin Virginy No. 1

Laura Chavin Virginy No. 1

Laura Chavin Virginy No. 1 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Laura Chavin Virginy line is the first new brand introduced by company owner Willi Knopf. The cigar is dominated by what is probably the world’s only genetically untouched original tobacco, Carbonell’s Olor Dominican Virgen.

What was launched as a single release line was expanded this year. All the sizes are sold in white and wooden lacquered 10-ct boxes.

Laura Chavin Virginy No. 1

Visually, the wrapper is of a Claro color with a greenish hue to it, and it is smooth to the touch. There are very minimal veins present, and the construction is flawless.

Laura Chavin Virginy No. 1

Laura Chavin Virginy No. 1: herbs, hay, and natural tobacco are perceived in the cold draw. Once lit, the cigar opens with smooth and creamy notes of wood, nuts, and herbs.

Laura Chavin Virginy No. 1

Further into the first third, the smoke continues to be creamy. Notes of wood and hazelnut are followed by hay and herbs. There is also citrus zest coming through. Strength is medium-light (2/5). A very faint spice note can be made out in the retro-hale.

In the second third, a sweet component joins the fray. Cream, wood, and hazelnut are still present, with the herbal note having moved to the background. The citrus aroma is still perceptible, as are the faint spicy sensations. Strength remains constant.

The last third sees the spicy component increase in intensity, with cream, wood, hazelnut, and herbs following behind it. The citrus zest is still present, but the sweetness has disappeared. Strength increases slightly and is now close to medium-bodied (2.5/5)

Overall, the Laura Chavin Virginy No. 1 is a smooth and balanced smoke from beginning to end. The profile is complex and flavorful. This is a cigar that puts flavor before strength, paired with impeccable construction.
