Hoyo Shade

A new addition to the Hoyo de Monterrey lineup is on its way, and it stands out with a unique twist: its wrapper is a shade-grown wrapper in Honduras (not in the more commonly used regions of Connecticut or Ecuador). Following last year’s release of the Rojo and Oscuro lines, General Cigar Co. is set to debut the Hoyo de Monterrey Shade, a milder expression of the brand that is now shipping.

Produced at the HATSA factory in Danlí, Honduras, the Hoyo de Monterrey Shade is composed entirely of Honduran tobacco, including the shade-grown wrapper.

The Shade line is affordably priced. It comes in three vitolas, all priced under $9 and packaged in boxes of 10 cigars:

  • Rothschild, 50 × 114 mm (4 ½”), $5.99 per cigar
  • Toro,  52 × 152 mm (6″), $7.49 per cigar
  • Gigante, 60 × 152 mm (6″), $8.49 per cigar
