Due to a resurgence of the COVID19 cases, the Honduran Government has ordered all non-essential businesses to close once again, starting today, Wednesday, June 22nd.

The order includes cigar factories as well and it is the second time that has occurred this year. Some cigar factories have already suspended their operation, while the remaining manufacturers will do so in the coming days.

The mandated closures are supposed to last for at least 15 days and the essential businesses allowed open are gas stations, pharmacies, and grocery stores. Similar to the first lockdowns in March, the agronomy sector is allowed to continue working, but probably in reduced capacity again.

Update: Thanks to some cigar factories meeting with the region’s department of health and showing them their compliance with health safety guidance, the Honduran Government granted the cigar factories and exemption to stay open.
