Partagas Serie D No. 4 Tubo

Partagas Serie D No. 4 Tubo

Partagas Serie D No. 4 Tubo 800 450 Giuseppe Mitolo

The Partagas Serie D No. 4 (or more simply D4) is a masterpiece of Cuban production, the Robusto par for excellence. Produced since 1975 (but has historical traces even in the pre-embargo period), in 2009 it was also proposed in a aluminum Tubo version.

Partagas Serie D n. 4 Tubo

Extracting the Robusto from the Tubo, we discover a shiny Colorado shaded wrapper. It is quite smooth to the touch, with veins just barely pronounced. Overall construction and filling are more than good.

Partagas Serie D n. 4 Tubo

Partagas Serie D No. 4 Tubo: once the Tubo is opened, we are flooded by the scents confined for too long in it. The cold draw reveals notes of wood and cocoa, enriched with a slight peppery tinge.

Partagas Serie D n. 4 Tubo

The opening is decidedly sapid. The cigar starts immediately in a fairly complex way, with balsamic, woody and earthy scents, enriched with a mineral nuance. Strength is medium (3/5).

In the central section the D4 remains sapid. Flavor-wise, the mineral notes remain unchanged, while the wood becomes less pronounced, making room for a strong nutty note. Strength increases, becoming medium – full (4/5).

In the last third, the cigar, while remaining sapid, shows a slight bitter component. The notes of wood regains body, supported by spices and walnut. Strength remains unchanged (4/5).

Overall, the Partagas Serie D No. 4 Tubo, despite a productive consistency that is not exactly its strong point, proves once again to be the Cuban Robusto par excellence. Intense flavors and never dull, well balanced as well. Very long finish.
