A.J. Fernandez Dias de Gloria Short Churchill

A.J. Fernandez Dias de Gloria Short Churchill

A.J. Fernandez Dias de Gloria Short Churchill 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The A.J. Fernandez Dias de Gloria line, which translates to glory days, is a call back to the good old days. They are supposed to be a call back to the cigars that Abdel’s father, Ismael Fernandez, smoked when he lived in Cuba.

Once the cedar sleeve is removed, it reveals a shiny Colorado shaded wrapper, that is oily and smooth to the touch.

A.J. Fernandez Dias de Gloria Short Churchill: the cold draw presents a mix of spices and vegetal notes. Once lit, the cigar starts out with a mix of spices, mainly black pepper.

Further into the first third, the black pepper is joined by leather, wood and citrus peel. There is also a nutty creaminess present in the background. Strength is already a solid medium (3/5).

The black pepper fades out in the second third. It is replaced by cinnamon that go well together with the wood, leather and nutty creaminess. A earthy note creeps in later on. Strength remains medium.

There is almost no spicy component present in the last third and the same goes for the creaminess. Instead the smoke is rather dry The trio of wood, leather and earth are still well present. Strength is constant.

Overall, the A.J. Fernandez Dias de Gloria Short Churchill is a well balanced smoke that perfoms as soon as it is lit up. The only flaw, if you can call it that, is that it slightly falls off towards the end of the smoke.
