The Orkney distillery is one of the long lasting brands on the market. Among the many special and limited editions, this The Dark set the path of a new series dedicated to whisky color hues. The intense dark hue, named embernectar, derives from 17 years in rich sherry butts that maximized the typical peated and salty notes of the northernmost whisky in Scotland.
Peat and smoky scents are enriched by medicinal herbs, cloves, and cherry compote. On the palate peat, coffee beans, and wood spices, together with lemon peel and hazelnut. Peppery finish.

HOW ARE THE AWARDS MADE?
Among the whiskies tested during the year in blind tastings and reviews, those who scored the best were selected. These products were then tested once again in a new blind tasting, which means not knowing what they are during the tasting. The only indication on the sample concerns the ABV content: a red mark states that the product has an ABV higher than 50% (100° proof). The test results are then compared, and the TOP 10 is made.
