The Cumpay Lancero is one of the products offered by Maya Selva’s vast portfolio. The Cumpay line, launched in 1999, was characterized by Nicaraguan tobaccos, used for the composition of the entire blend. In 2016, the line underwent a restyling, and in March 2022, the Lancero was presented and then distributed starting the following month.
Currently the Cumpay brand is available in seven formats. The blend involves a Habano seed wrapper grown in Jalapa over an all-Nicaraguan binder and filler. The Cumpay cigars are rolled at Plasencia Cigars S.A.. The Lancero is sold in 20-ct boxes.
The detail of the main band is very striking, although the colors used are dark, and the name of the vitola is written down. Encircling the foot is another band with Maya Selva’s signature. The wrapper has a Colorado tone tending towards Maduro, with brown reflections. It is pretty smooth to the touch, albeit with some small veins present. The construction and filling are great.

Cumpay Lancero: there are intense notes of wood and walnut, equal to each other, present in the cold draw.
Overall, the Cumpay Lancero is a good product that is capable of offering aromas, evolution, and strength in a gradual and balanced way. The aromas are small in number, but the cigar manages to engage you, thanks also to the perfect balance between the strength and intensity of the aromas. The only downside is the astringent sensation appearing in the last third.
