Caldwell Long Live the King Mad MOFO Habano Belicoso 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Caldwell Long Live the King Mad MOFO Habano is part of the Long Live the King line from Caldwell Cigar Company, founded by Robert Caldwell. The Habano version is the follow-up release to the original Mad MOFO, swapping the San Andres Maduro wrapper for a Habano leaf and tweaking the blend.

The Super Toro placed in last year’s awards.

The cigar is dressed in an oily Colorado Maduro wrapper that is smooth to the touch, with only a few small veins present. Construction, draw, and filling are on point.

Caldwell Long Live the King Mad MOFO Habano Belicoso: There is only a faint cellulose nuance perceptible in the cold draw. Once lit, the cigar opens with a creamy cappuccino note.

Further into the first third, the cappuccino note is joined by bitter almonds. A herbal aroma comes through as well, with a faint pepper nuance present in the background. The strength is a solid medium (3/5).

The flavor profile is confirmed in the second third, with the cappuccino changing to an espresso note. The strength remains unchanged.

The last third is a long continuation of the previous one, except for a bitter aroma coming through towards the end. The strength grows to a medium-full level (4/5).

Overall, the Caldwell Long Live the King Mad MOFO Habano Belicoso is a flavorful smoke that shines especially in the first and second third. The bitterness that appears in the last third unbalances the profile slightly, but not to the point to disrupt the smoking experience.
