It came as quite the shock when Nicholas Melillo announced the discontinuation of his classic blend, the El Güegüense. But in the same breath he announced the new Wise Man Corojo and Maduro blends. Both lines are now made at the renowned Garcia family’s My Father factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
On paper, the blend for the Maduro may read the same as the old Wise Man, but except for the San Andrés Maduro wrapper, all remaining tobaccos for the new blend come from the Garcia family farms in Nicaragua.
The cigar is rolled in a Colorado Maduro colored wrapper that has a decent amount of tooth to it. There are only a few small veins present. Construction is good and the filling is uniform.

The Wise Man Maduro Toro: the cold draw reveals clean aromas of tobacco. Once lit, the cigar opens with a blast of black pepper, earth and cocoa.
Overall, the Wise Man Maduro Toro is a bold and flavorful smoke. The first third starts out a bit rough around the edges, but that dissipates after a couple of minutes. This new Wise Man Maduro manages to stay close to what its predecessor was, in terms of smoking experience, while still feeling different in the best way possible.
