WhistlePig 10yo is a rye whiskey whose mash bill is entirely composed of rye. It is aged for 10 years in new American oak barrels before being finished for a few months in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV). WhistlePig was first founded in 2007 with the purchase of a farm in the state of Vermont. Then the company bought a large batch of more than 10 years old Canadian rye whiskey and began to mature it in its warehouses; it is precisely this rye that is bottled. In 2015 the company also began distilling.

TASTING NOTES – WHISTLEPIG 10yo
Nose
It opens with wood and balsamic herbs, among which you can perceive a slight mentholated note. Vanilla, wood, and leather follow. Hints of spices and toffee are present as well.
Palate
Aromas of caramel, wood, and leather are immediately perceptible, enriched with toasted notes.
Finish
Medium-long finish, mainly focused around toasted notes, with the pleasant addition of wood and vanilla.
Whistlepig 10yo is overall a very structured and round rye with an excellent balance. A really complete and satisfying product, which provides for a complex and well-balanced drink.
