San Pedro de Macoris Brazil Perla is a brand owned by the Scandinavian Tobacco Group, which manufactures the products for this brand in the factory located in San Pedro de Macoris, in the Dominican Rep. This town also gives its name to the cigars.
The brand was launched in August 2018 and slowly reached global markets, and is sold in three different wrapper variations: Brazil, Ecuador, and Nicaragua.
All lines come in four different vitolas, among which is the Perla. All cigars are sold in boxes of 20.
Visually, the cigar is dressed in an opaque Maduro wrapper with brown reflections. It is somewhat rough to the touch with moderately pronounced veins. The filling and construction are good, as is the draw.

San Pedro de Macoris Brazil Perla: aromas of damp earth and wood are perceived in the cold draw, both of equal intensity.
The opening brings a sapid but also delicately sweet smoke to the palate. It expresses very intense citrus aromas, followed by wood and peppery nuances. The strength is medium-full (4/5).
In the second half, the cigar remains only sapid, losing its initial sweetness. The initial woody note, which has remained unchanged, is joined by an earthy component, while the citrus sensation is now more nuanced. Strength remains unchanged (4/5).
Overall, the San Pedro de Macoris Brazil Perla offers a very interesting smoke if you consider the producers’ size and desire to create a product budget smoke. With a few euros/dollars, buying a product capable of returning well-marked aromas, a respectable strength, and good harmony is possible. Of course, one shouldn’t expect a very broad profile or a marked evolution.
