Roy Rogers

Roy Rogers

Roy Rogers 982 587 Luca Cominelli

The pairing cigar – beverage doesn’t have to be always made with spirits or something alcoholic..

For this reason we are going to suggest a tasty alternative that goes well with our beloved cigars. The cocktail we’ve chosen uses ingredients that refreshes and cleans the palate, in order to make us appreciate every single puff in the best way. We are talking about the “Roy Rogers”, but with a variant that makes it perfect to pair it with a smoke.

RECIPE

  • Ginger Ale 4oz
  • lime juice 2oz
  • Citronella
  • Ginger (not bigger than a thumb)
  • orange peel

roy-rogers  Cut the citronella and the ginger in thin slices and put everything in a low tumbler glass. Peel the orange and add the peel, together with the lime juice. To finish the cocktail add ice and pour it up to the rim of the glass with Ginger Ale.

If you would want an alcohol version of this cocktail, just simply add 4 cl of Tanqueray Rangpur Gin.

CIGARS FOR PAIRING:

this drink is very refreshing, because of the ginger, the lime and the citronella. The proposed combination we refers two cigars: one Honduran product and one Italian.

Camacho Triple Maduro Piramide: the rustic and precise aromatic palate marries well with the refreshing citrus notes of the drink, creating a very pleasing contrast. The ginger cleans the palate after every sip, emphasizing the aromatic palate of the Camacho, which makes it even more appreciable. (for the complete review of the Camacho Triple Maduro click here!)

Ambasciator Italico Classico: the aromatic palate of this all Italian finds in the Roy Rogers an ally, which is able to help the smoke for all his duration. In the first half, the spicy and woody notes that the cigar reveals are accompanied by the refreshing sensation of the drink. In the second half of the smoke, which becomes more intense, the citrus notes of the cocktail intervene, creating a balanced pairing up to the last  puff.
