Platinum Nova Classic

Platinum Nova Classic

Platinum Nova Classic 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Platinum Nova brand debuted at the IPCPR trade show in 2019 with a bang, introducing ten regular productions lines, a sampler, and two limited edition cigars. All of these cigars are made in the Dominican Republic.

Included in the ten regular production lines is the Classic, a Robusto-sized cigar. The packaging is particularly eye-catching with the mint green on silver color scheme.

Platinum Nova Classic

Visually, the cigar is rolled in a very oily Colorado Rosado-colored wrapper with a decent amount of tooth to it. Construction is uniform, and the filling is generous.

Platinum Nova Classic

Platinum Nova Classic: the cold draw is somewhat muted, and only light notes of hay and spice reach the palate. Once lit, it immediately starts with creamy hazelnut notes and wood.

Platinum Nova Classic

The creamy hazelnut is the prominent flavor in the first third, followed by wood, herbs, and a hint of white pepper in the retrohale. Strength is medium-light (2/5).

In the second third, the creamy hazelnut and wood combo are still the prominent flavors. The herbs have turned balsamic, and the hints of white pepper remain in the background. Interestingly, the flavors are lighter in body in some puffs and a bit fuller in others. Strength remains unchanged.

In the last third, the cigar picks up in body while the creaminess has disappeared, but the hazelnut is still present. A leather note appears next to the wood and balsamic herbs. The white pepper is now also present on the palate. Strength becomes medium (3/5).

Overall, the Platinum Nova Classic is a smooth and creamy smoke with a balanced flavor profile. While the intensity of flavors comes and goes in the second third, it regains its composure in the last third and is consistent until the end.
