Nestled at 2600 feet on the Japanese Alps, Mars is the highest whisky distillery of Japan. The “dandelion flower” is the third release in the “Nature of Shinshu” series, inspired by the beautiful surroundings of the Nagano Prefecture. In this case, precious 20-year-old whisky from sherry casks is vatted with young whisky matured in Bourbon and American white oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES – MARS KOMAGATAKE SHINANOTANPOPO
Nose
Sweet and fresh, it delivers menthol scents, followed by vegetal and balsamic herbs. Then white pepper and citrus fruit (lemon peel). The last aroma exhibited is, cocoa. Intense.
Palate
Elegant and structured. Cocoa and wood, with a hint of coffee in the background. There are also some vegetal notes.
Finish
Medium-long persistence. White pepper and wood, followed by vegetal notes.
Overall, the Mars Komagatake Shinanotanpopo is an intense Japanese whiskey. To the nose is great, very deep and structured. A great Japanese whisky. This Mars whisky was awarded as the 9th best whisky in 2019 awards.
