Macanudo Emissary España

A new type of Macanudo cigar is available, called Macanudo Emissary España, and features tobacco grown in an unusual location – Spain. General Cigar Co. explains that the most important type of tobacco used in Macanudo Emissary España is grown from Cuban seeds planted near the town of Riolobos in western Spain, near the border with Portugal. The region’s rocky soil and Mediterranean climate contribute to the unique tobacco flavor. The tobacco is grown near olive trees and pepper fields used for paprika, which results in oily leaves due to warm, dry summer days and mild nights. Combined with the rocky soil, the result is a tobacco with an intense and complex flavor.

Spanish tobacco is only one of the filler’s components; the others are tobacco from Nicaragua, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. The cigars are held together by a Nicaraguan binder from Condega and wrapped with Connecticut Broadleaf.

Macanudo Emissary España comes in four sizes:

  • Churchill: 48 x 178 mm (7”), suggested retail price $16.99 per cigar
  • Perfecto: 54 x 152 mm (6”), suggested retail price $17.99 per cigar
  • Robusto: 52 x 127 mm (5”), suggested retail price $14.99 per cigar
  • Toro: 52 x 152 mm (6”), suggested retail price $15.99 per cigars

They are sold in 16-count boxes and produced at the Honduras HATSA factory. The cigars are already available in the US.
