Leyrat XO Vieille Reserve is a Single Estate Cognac, made using exclusively Ugni Blanc grapes. It is aged for 15-20 years and the brand declares that eaux-de-vie dating back to 1920 are also used. Regarding the maturation, the first step is in new filling casks, then cask with an age between 4 and 12 years, and the last step is made in much older barrels, where the wood impact is much less.

TASTING NOTES – COGNAC LEYRAT XO VIEILLE RESERVE
Nose
Dried fruits, mainly raisins and plums. Then it delivers vanilla and red fruits, together with floral hints. A marzipan note completes the aromatic profile.
Palate
Honey and a touch of spices (mainly white pepper). Then it exhibits lemon peel. The pepper gets more and more intense.
Finish
Medium persistency. It develops a riot of white pepper and honey.
Overall, the Leyrat XO Vieille Reserve is a very round and harmonious Cognac. The long aging is perceivable and the flavor profile is well structured and deep, equipped with a good complexity.
