La Aurora 115th Anniversary Limited Edition Belicoso

La Aurora 115th Anniversary Limited Edition Belicoso

La Aurora 115th Anniversary Limited Edition Belicoso 800 450 Michel Arlia

Although the La Aurora 115th Anniversary Limited Edition was announced late last year, it took over six months until they actually released. As the name says, this release commemorates the birthday of La Aurora. The line comes in two size, a Belicoso and a Gran Toro.

Visually, the Colorado Maduro wrapper is off set by beaufiful gold on black bands. The shiny holowgram adds a certain value to the cigar. The wrapper itself is smooth, with one major vein present.

La Aurora 115th Anniversary Limited Edition Belicoso: the cold draw brings vegetal and nutty notes to the palate. Once lit, the cigar starts out with wood, cream and spices.

The first third continues with the wood and cream. There are notes of nuts and ripe fruits in the background, paired with a mix of spices and a subtle honey sweetness. Strength is a little short of medium (2,5/5).

In second third, the nuttiness moves to the foreground, next to the cream and wood. There is now cocoa, cinnamon and citrus present in the background. Some floral notes, with a hint of sweetness, can be detected as well. Strength jumps up to medium – full (4/5).

The last third sees the creaminess moving to the background, while the wood and nuts stay in the foreground. There is now also a black pepper spice present, that increases toward the end. The cocoa and floral notes in the background are now joined by coffee and some saltiness. Strength increases slightly (4,5/5).

Overall, the La Aurora 115th Anniversary Limited Edition Belicoso is a well balanced cigar. The flavor profile is complex and intense, paired with a long finish. What is surprising is the strength. Althought it is not overpowering the profile, it is stronger that what you would usually expect from La Aurora. Pair this with an impeccable construction you get a cigar fitting for an anniversary.
