Drew Estate Liga Unico Papas Fritas

Drew Estate Liga Unico Papas Fritas

Drew Estate Liga Unico Papas Fritas 750 453 Michel Arlia

The Drew Estate Liga Unico Papas Fritas redefines the concept of „Short Fillers“. The Papas Fritas recycles the the tobacco cuts of the Liga Privada as filler tobacco; we are talking about a mix of tobaccos from Honduras and Nicaragua. All this is wrapped in a Mata Fina binder from Brazil and a Connecticut Broadleaf #1 Dark wrapper, the same that is also used in the Liga Privada.

The dimensions are: 44 x 114mm. They are sold in tins consisting of 4 cigars. The price is $5.99 per cigar.

The wrapper has a maduro color, with a pig-tail finish. It also has some tooth to it. The filling isn’t uniform and has some gaps present.

Smoking Notes:

Drew Estate Liga Unico Papas Fritas: the cold draw reveals cocoa and spices. The opening brings strong notes of cocoa, leather and wood to the palate.

The first third releases notes of wood and leather, with cocoa in the background. There is a decent amount of black pepper present in the retro-hale. The strength is medium (3/5).

The second third doesn’t see any changes to the aromatic palate, but the intensity increases notably. The strength increases to a medium full (4/5). The smoke is copious and creamy. The base becomes sweeter.

The final third continues with the same aromas. In the finale, the black pepper increases even more, with spicy hints. The strength is now full bodied (5/5).

Overall the Papas Fritas present some similar characteristics to their lager counterpart in the Liga Privada line. Excluding the evolution, which is almost inexistent, the Papas Fritas convince more for their intensity, balance and the well laid out aromas. Also the smoke mechanic doesn’t present any problems. A quick and easy smoke, that make the Papas Fritas an interesting option for a carefree smoke.
