TASTING NOTES DARROZE GRANDS ASSEMBLAGES 12 YO

Nose

clean, equipped with a good intensity. It delivers notes of fresh apples, golden raisins, stewed peaches and soft spices, followed by caramel. It feels a little more concentrated than the 8YO version (click here for the tasting) and although it’s older it somehow feels fresher.

Palate

good weight. It develops notes of raisins, baked apple and dried mangos, together with a touch of vanilla, oak spice and varnishes.

Finish

medium long persistence. Very dry. Raisins, sawdust and a woody bitterness.

Overall, the Darroze Grands Assemblages 12YO is a good Armagnac, not a big jump up in quality when compared to the 8-year-old, both are good in their own way. However, the 8yo (click here for the tasting) scores a little higher.
