Caldwell Louis The Last Corona

Caldwell Louis The Last Corona

Caldwell Louis The Last Corona 1600 900 Giuseppe Mitolo

The Caldwell Louis the Last Corona was a one-off production released at the end of 2022 and is part of Caldwell’s Crafted & Curated series.

According to Caldwell himself, who never revealed the blend of the product, the Louis The Last was a variant of The Last Tsar line, as it uses the same tobaccos, coming from the same cultivation area, but with a different fermentation process of wrapper and binder. The origin of the wrapper is unknown, only the varietal is known, a Hybrid Connecticut Arapiraca Maduro. After the Corona, a Robusto size was released as well.

Only 500 10-ct boxes were produced at the El Maestro factory in the Dominican Republic.

Caldwell Louis The Last Corona

Louis the Last Corona is rolled in a shiny Colorado Maduro wrapper, with brown reflections. It is very smooth to the touch. The construction is excellent, and the draw is good.

Caldwell Louis The Last Corona 2

Caldwell Louis The Last Corona: well-defined aromas of nuts and cocoa are perceivable in the cold draw, enriched by earthy nuances.

Caldwell Louis The Last Corona 3

Once lit, the smoke in the mouth is sapid, followed by a spicy component. It expresses marked notes of bitter almond, followed by less evident earthy and balsamic aromas. Strength is medium (3/5).

In the central section, the sapidity remains unchanged while the initial spiciness disappears. The flavor profile settles on a cocoa-balsamic-wood triptych, all notes of equal intensity. The strength increases, becoming medium-full (4/5).

In the last third, a very intense note of honey explodes, supported by balsamic and woody aromas. The strength remains unchanged (4/5).

Overall, the Caldwell Louis the Last Corona is a cigar that captures the smoker’s attention for the excellent smoke condensed in a Corona format. The aromas are intense and well distributed throughout the smoke, supported by a significant but never overpowering strength. The last third is worthy of note, as it has a long finish.
