TASTING NOTES – BUNNAHABHAIN 18 YO W&M 2001

Nose

It opens immediately without compromise, highlighting the distillery’s most sulfurous and animal notes, almost taken to the extreme. To these more delicate and sweet hints of raisins are added and a more savory side reminiscent of brine.

Palate

The tones of sherry, here drier, are immediately protagonists, and their duration is very prolonged; they are flanked by spices, sometimes almost piquant ones. In the second place emerges a character that is more similar to the nose, with damp earth and “farmy” notes that are far from kind and subtle but very enjoyable.

Finish

Long, with all the leather and earth that have characterized the entire fruition in all its main aspects.

Bunnahabhain 18yo Wilson&Morgan 2001 is a really intense and marked release, sometimes brazen; however, there are several sides that can be appreciated in the product, such as the aromatic intensity and the remarkable complexity of the palette. It is immediately clear that the intention is not to favor the silky and sophisticated side of other products, but the characteristics of the distillery are present and enhanced. Maybe the marine side of other products is not the protagonist here. Enjoyable and intense, a fulfilling experience.
