Buffalo Trace announced the third release in its Double Eagle Very Rare series. This limited edition release series first began in 2019. This release will be a 20-year-old version of the brand’s Eagle Rare. The standard Eagle Rare is aged 10 years. The lucky few bourbon lovers that get this release will see what doubling the age does to the Eagle Rare bourbon. This Kentucky straight bourbon was aged for 20 years on the lower floors of the Buffalo Trace warehouses. For this third release, Buffalo Trace increases the proof of Double Eagle Very Rare from 90 to 101. The higher proof is a throwback to the original proof used back in 1975 when Eagle Rare was first released for the USA’s upcoming bicentennial celebration.
As you would expect for such a rare and limited bottling, the packaging is nothing but eye-catching. Inside the silver presentation box, you will find a beautiful crystal decanter. There are two eagles present on the decanter: one on the front of the bottle and one used for the bottle stopper. The Double Eagle Very Rare third release will be available at a few selected retailers in February 2021. A very limited release of only 199 bottles. Double Eagle Very Rare third release has an MSRP of $2,000 per bottle.
