It is also possible to come across numerous independent specimens, often Single Barrels, as is here the case. The cask, number 910, contained the whiskey from 1997 to 2016, until Valinch & Mallet, an independent Italian bottler, decided to make this edition.

TASTING NOTES Benrinnes 1997/2016 Valinch & Mallet
Nose: enveloping. It starts with yellow fruits (pear), by then venturing into spicy territories of white pepper. There is a rather complex note of malt, bread and cereals, and different spices, which are constantly evolving.
Palate: sweet, honey, vanilla and orange jam are joined by hints of custard. Spices emerge after a few moments: black pepper and cinnamon. Intensity is almost perfect.
Finale: of long persistence, it releases notes of black pepper, honey, vanilla and milk chocolate.
The distillery is probebly not one of the best known in Scotland. Despite this, this barrel has allowed the Valin & Mallet 1997-2011 Benrinnes to ripen perfectly, creating a structured aromatic palette, especially on the palate (the complexity and intensity are not as high on the nose).
