The barrel used previously contained Sherry, this should give the malt a round, soft and fruity character.
TASTING NOTES BALVENIE 15 SHERRY CASK 2814
Nose: very round right away. Red fruits (cherry, black cherry and plum), not excessively tending towards sweet. Orange jam, candied fruits and dried fruits are joined by raisins and dates. Soave notes of black pepper and a hint of cocoa, are followed by the unmistakable honey note, typical of Balvenie.
Palate: cocoa and red fruits. Dark chocolate is balanced out by red fruits (cherry, sour cherry and dates). Both are supported by black pepper. Intense spicy notes give additional depth to the flavor profile.
Finish: long persistence and intense. It reveals notes of cocoa, coffee beans and black pepper.
The different barrels tasted so far, were all equally good.
