Balmoral Anejo XO Gran Magnifico

Balmoral Anejo XO Gran Magnifico

Balmoral Anejo XO Gran Magnifico 800 450 Luca Cominelli

The Balmoral Anejo XO Grand Magnifico is a limited edition of 2017, which has quite the unique size. The cigar may seem a piramide format, but in reality, the ring gauge increases in the first part of the cigar and then becomes slightly thinner towards the foot.

Aesthetically, it is rolled in a Maduro shaded wrapper, that is free from any flaws. Smooth to the touch, it reveals a generous and uniform filling.

Balmoral Anejo XO Gran Magnifico: unlit, hints of cocoa and raisins. The opening brings to the palate an intense mix of walnut and hazelnut, followed by earth and mild vegetal hints.

The first third continues with the same pronounced flavor intensity. There are still notes of earth and nuts, together with a delicate balsamic aroma, which carries over into the aftertaste. The spicy component (white pepper) is contained but perceptible in the background. Advancing in the smoke, the earth aroma turns into undergrowth and dried mushrooms. The smoke is a little on the dry side and the strength is slightly above medium (3,5/5).

In the second third, hot spices are outlined, followed by intense earthy notes. Cocoa appears slowly. Strength remains constant (3,5/5).

In the last third, the smoke becomes creamy. Notes of cocoa and cappuccino are now released, joined by hints of milk chocolate and hot spices. The white pepper returns in the background. Getting closer to the end,  balsamic herbs (mint) appear as well. Strength increases (4,5/5).

Overall, the Balmoral Anejo XO Grand Magnifico delivers a well-blended and balanced flavor profile. The aging of the tobaccos is noticeable and the cigar is very intense and satisfying, from the first to the last puff.
