Capitol Swing 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Capitol cigars were blended by none other than Rafael Nodal, of Aging Room, and are an homage to the roaring 1920s. They are produced in Nicaragua by Plasencia.

Blend-wise, the Capitol cigars are Nicaraguan puros. The Capitol Swing size was added earlier this year, bringing the total sizes to 4.

The wrapper is of a shiny Colorado hue that is smooth to the touch. Construction is good, with the head finished in a pigtail, and the filling is generous.

Capitol Swing

Capitol Swing: the cold draw reveals aromas of hazelnut and wood. Once lit, it opens with hazelnut and wood notes, accompanied by a very perceptible sapidity.

Capitol Swing

Further into the first third, a sour cream note is added to the hazelnut, and wood. There is also an espresso aroma coming through from time to time. The strength is medium-light (2/5).

The profile remains unchanged in the second third, with the exception of the sapidity disappearing. The strength is now a solid medium body (3/5).

A white pepper spice is added in the last third while the remaining flavor profile is confirmed. The strength remains unchanged.

Overall, the Capitol Swing is a solid smoke that starts out a bit rough due to its intense sapidity, but fortunately evens out after the first third.
