Next year, Stolen Throne Cigars will launch a special cigar to celebrate a significant milestone for one of the world’s most renowned horse races. The Preakness 150 Limited Edition Cigar will feature a 46 x 152mm (6″) Corona vitola, wrapped in an Ecuadorian Habano Claro leaf. The binder and filler will consist of tobacco sourced from Nicaragua. These cigars are being produced at the Rojas Cigar Factory in Nicaragua.
Each cigar will be priced at an MSRP of $14, and the release is limited to 3,000 boxes, each containing 10 cigars. As the name suggests, this new release honors the 150th running of the Preakness Stakes, a prestigious thoroughbred horse race held annually on the third Saturday in May at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. The Preakness Stakes is the second leg of the Triple Crown, which also includes the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
“It’s an incredible honor to pay tribute to the Preakness and my hometown in a way that truly reflects my passion and craft,” said Lee Marsh, the founder of Stolen Throne Cigars, in a press release.
According to the press release, boxes of the Preakness 150 Limited Edition Cigar will be distributed to select retailers in Baltimore and the surrounding region in the first quarter of 2025. An expanded nationwide release is anticipated before the Preakness Stakes, which will take place on May 17.
