Tatuaje Cigars has revealed new sizes for the Cojonu and Tuxtla series.
The Cojonu line of Tatuaje La Seleccion de Cazador (Brown Label) uses a higher priming Habano wrapper. It adds more ligero to the blend resulting in an amped-up addition to the line. The first of the Cojonu series was the Cojonu 2003 out of Miami in the very first year of Tatuaje. This was followed every three years, with a different size added to the line through 2012. The Cojonu 2012 was released in 3 different wrappers (Habano, Sumatra, and Broadleaf) and was meant to be the last of the series that then included 2003, 2006, 2009, and 2012.
“In 2021, we released the Cojonu 2021. When the Cojonu 2021 was released, we joked about ‘The Lost Years,’ meaning ‘what happened to 2015 and 2018?’. Well, last year, we introduced the Cojonu 2015, and we are now introducing the Cojonu 2018,” said Tatuaje founder Pete Johnson in a press release. The Cojonu 2018 comes in a 54 x 143mm (5 5/8″) soft box-pressed size, and the blend includes an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binders and filler. Like the Cojonu 2015 and 2021 releases, 2018 will also be sold in 21-count boxes, with a suggested retail price of $13.50 per cigar. It will begin shipping in late May.The Tuxtla series will get two new limited edition sizes appearing at PCA in July.
“As we did last year, we are pairing existing Tatuaje SKUs with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper in a Limited run. This time around, we chose the Tatuaje Brown Label sizes released for Tatuaje’s 10th anniversary in 2013, the Belle Encre, a 48 x 137mm (5 3/8″) Perfecto size, and the Bon Chasseur, a 52 x 137mm (5 3/8”) Robusto Extra size. Both sizes feature a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Nicaraguan binders and filler, and they are limited to 2,500 boxes each. They will share the same suggested retail price, $12 per cigar, and packaging, 20-count boxes.
