The Quai d’Orsay Selection Royale is the cigar released by Habanos S.A. as a Regional Edition for Switzerland, also to celebrate the 25 years of existence of the Swiss importer Intertabak AG.
The cigar, whose release was initially scheduled for 2020, arrived in Swiss shops at the end of 2023. The time that the 50-ct cabinets remained on the shelves was almost non-existent, given that pre-sales had already started. The cigar sold like hotcakes for various reasons: the brand’s exclusivity, the packaging, and the vitola 109, which has the particularity of the tumbado head.
The cigar is rolled in a bright Colorado wrapper with reddish reflections. In addition to the main band, there is also the regional edition, celebrating the anniversary of Intertabak. The wrapper is quite smooth to the touch with moderately marked grain. Overall construction and filling are excellent, while the draw appears slightly tight.

Quai d’Orsay Selection Royale Edición Regional Suiza: well-defined woody aromas, followed by spicy and earthy nuances, are present in the cold draw.
Once lit, the smoke is sweet, with a sapid nuance, expressing very intense aromas of noble wood, followed by white pepper and vegetal hints. The strength is medium-light (2/5).
In the central section, the smoke in the mouth becomes very creamy. The initial note of noble wood fades, while well-defined notes of honey and walnut take over. Strength does not change.
In the final third, the sweetness vanishes, while a very intense toasted and leather note emerges alongside the noble wood and walnut. Strength increases, becoming medium (3/5).
Overall, the Quai d’Orsay Selection Royale produces Edición Regional Suiza, which is an exciting smoke with a broad and constantly evolving flavor profile. The creaminess of the central section, which continues until the end, is also excellent. The cigar’s strength is balanced and not overwhelming, making it a very approachable smoke. This cigar was second in the Cuba section of the CigarsLover Magazine Awards.
