There is a new Ardbeg, and despite what usually happens for this brand, it is something that will not be released in a limited edition, but that will become part of the regular production of the brand.

It is a whiskey aged 5 years and bottled at 47.4%. The distillate is matured both in ex-bourbon and ex-oloroso barrels.

Where does the name come from? Wee Beastie is sometimes referred to as small, annoying Scottish mosquitoes, which occur in swarms and bite aggressively. This is what the marketing of this whiskey wants to convey, a decisive and intense dram.
