The news is not something you share everyday. Highland Park is about to release a very limited number of bottles of the new 50 Years Old Highland Park. A well known year among the fans of the Orkney distillery, but also a milestone of great importance.
In 2008, Max McFarlane distiller of Highland Park, found two Spanish oak hogsheads in Warehouse 7. Both were filled in 1964 and never touched since. Two years later, the barrels were put together, with a little addition of a 1960’s spirit was added. Said spirit was small part of Highland Park 50 Years, released in 2010. The 274 bottles will be sold in oak wood boxes, together with a crystal and silver decanter created especially for the occasion.
Highland Park 50 Years has an ABV of 42.5%, is uncolored and unchill-filtered. Retail price will be £ 13,500.
