Micallef Gomez Sanchez Leyenda No. 1

Micallef Gomez Sanchez Leyenda No. 1

Micallef Gomez Sanchez Leyenda No. 1 1600 900 Giuseppe Mitolo

The Micallef Gomez Sanchez Leyenda No. 1 is a tribute to Don Pedro Gomez, created by the collaboration between Micallef Cigars and Don Pedro’s grandchildren. To pay homage to him, this line of products was designed consisting of two formats, among which there is the Leyenda No. 1, a torpedo with very pronounced dimensions, made by hand without the use of a mold.

All the tobacco used is aged for five years while the finished cigar rests for a year in the factory’s aging room. It is sold in refined boxes of 10 pieces.

Micallef Leyenda No. 1

Visually it is wrapped in a shiny Colorado band with brown reflections, very smooth to the touch and without marked veins. The filling is uniform, and the general construction is excellent.

Micallef Leyenda No. 1 2

Micallef Gomez Sanchez Leyenda No. 1: very intense aromas of cocoa are perceived in the cold draw, followed by less marked hazelnut notes and nuances of wood and leather.

Micallef Leyenda No. 1 3

Once lit, the smoke is tangy but also delicately acidic on the palate. It releases rich woody notes, followed by less intense aromas of earth and spices. The strength is medium-light (2/5).

In the central section, the cigar remains sapid, losing the initial acid component. Alongside the initial woody part, an equal spicy note is enriched by less evident mineral and coffee notes. Strength increases, settling one step above the average value (3.5/5).

The final third is practically a very long continuation of the central section without any change.

Overall, the Micallef Gomez Sanchez Leyenda No. 1 is an appreciable product, which can be intimidating due to its size. Still, it turns out to be an easy and well-manageable smoke. Noteworthy is the central third, with an absolute explosion of flavors and nuances. The balance is also good, with enough strength present but never over the top. It is disappointing for an almost zero evolution between the second and third stretch of the smoke, which makes it monotonous in such a long format.
