La Regenta AT56 Maduro

La Regenta AT56 Maduro

La Regenta AT56 Maduro 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Regenta AT56 Maduro is a cigar produced in the Canary Islands and sold in 25-count boxes. La Regenta is a brand born around 1920, which is inspired by the name of the factory where these cigars were produced: “Fábrica La Regenta”. The company’s headquarters are located in the center of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. At the time of its foundation, Cuba was the main supplier of tobacco leaves, which were processed in the Canary Islands and subsequently sent to Europe.

La Regenta AT56 Maduro

The cigars are rolled in a Colorado Maduro shaded wrapper leaf, which is slightly rough to the touch. The filling is generous.

La Regenta AT56 Maduro

La Regenta AT56 Maduro: the cold draw reveals hints of wood. The opening is sugary, particularly sweet, and reveals wooden notes.

La Regenta AT56 Maduro

The first third confirms what was perceived in the opening, wooden notes on a particularly sweet base. Strength is contained (2/5).

The second third continues on wood, now joined by nuances of nuts, mainly hazelnut. Strength remains constant (2/5).

In the final third, wood and nuts remain present, followed by toasted nuances, which become more pronounced as the cigar approaches the end. The sweetness is less contained in the last stretch of the smoke. Strength grows slightly (2.5/5).

Overall, the La Regenta AT56 Maduro releases a balanced smoke. The flavor profile, however, is somewhat contained and the evolution rather linear. The Robusto size is more performing.
