Kavalan has set the 1st of August as the opening date of the new ‘Cask Strength Whiskey Bar’ in Taiwan, in the Zhongshan district. It is the first Kavalan branded bar and, in addition to representing the distillery’s whisky, it will be an opportunity to try different products directly from the barrels.
Ian Chang, Kavalan’s master blender, has announced that at the whisky bar some barrels will be available from which to pour directly, recreating the classic warehouse tasting that few distilleries offer. Coated in steel to maintain optimal preservation, the barrels will change regularly, giving the public the chance to taste rarities that are impossible to find elsewhere.
In addition to this, Kavalan’s entire core range will be available, including many single casks and bottles now out of stock, such as the Solist Brandy and the Peaty Cask Distillery Reserve. It will also be possible to choose a cocktail from the wide list present, both with whisky and with gin.
The drink list was prepared by Aki Wang, owner of the Indulgent Experimental Bistro, ranked among the Top 50 Cocktail Bars in the world, and the cocktails will be the responsibility of Shane Lin, winner of the 2018 Bacardi Legacy competition.
Gastronomic combinations will also be available in the future.
