The Diplomatico Reserva Esclusiva is a Rum made in Venezuela, more precisely in La Miel. It is produced almost exclusively using the molasses extraction from the sugar canes. Distilled in copper stills, it is aged for 12 years in small oak barrels. The alcohol volume is 40%.
The packaging is particular and definitely old fashion. Once opened, the first thing noticiable is the green glass chosen for the bottle.
The price of the bottle is around 40€.
RUM DIPLOMATICO RESERVA EXCLUSIVA:
Look: amber color, with golden reflex.
On the nose: the first impact delineates scents of orange and vanilla, followed by sugar and hazelnut notes.
On the palate: caramel and vanilla, with ripe fruits and a a bit of hazelnut. The ripe fruit notes are well outlined and cover the palate followed by suave hints of cocoa. Elegant and round.
Finish: long. Honeyed and with hints of nut, it gives rise to an enjoyable persistence.
PARINGS
Davidoff Winston Churchill Toro: the rich spices, the honey and the wood melt together with those of the Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva. The rum and the cigar present many similarities. The result is a creamy and velvety pairing, very round and structured. 
Partagas Lusitanias: the spicy notes and the rich wood of the cigar marry the aromatic palate of this Rum. The union elevates both products, especially in the second half of the smoke, when the Lusitania increases in strength and character.
