Casa de Torres Edicion Especial 20 Años Gran Perfecto Claro: there are hints of barnyard and hazelnut present in the cold draw. Once lit, the cigar opens up with a mix of cedar wood and hazelnut.

Passed the tapered part of the foot, the cigar begins to opens up. The first third is characterized by cedar wood, earth and hazelnut as the main flavors. There is a lot going on in the retro hale, a sweet grassiness is paired with a mix of spices, white pepper and cinnamon. Strength is medium – light (2,5/5).

A little into the second third, a fresh creaminess appears. Cedar wood and hazelnut are still the main flavors, but the grassiness as now turned to a more herbal note. The mix of spices is still present in the retro hale. Strength increases slightly to medium (3/5).

The final third brings espresso notes to the palate. Cedar wood and hazelnut are not as dominant as before. Now, the herbal notes, that are reminiscing of menthol, have moved to the forefront. Smoke has become think and creamy. A chili spice is added to the mix of white pepper and cinnamon. Strength moves up to a medium plus (3,5/5).

Overall, a well balanced and complex smoke paired with a flawless construction. It has so much going on in the background, that it needs to be retro haled, or you’ll miss all the nuances that this cigar has to offer.
