AILSA BAY 1.2 Sweet Smoke

AILSA BAY 1.2 Sweet Smoke

AILSA BAY 1.2 Sweet Smoke 1600 800 Luca Cominelli

The Ailsa Bay 1.2 Sweet Smoke is a Scotch whisky that is bottled in a decidedly captivating and easily recognizable bottle. Both for the very large characters shown on the bottle, and for its shape, very elongated despite being a bottle containing the classics 70cl. This whisky comes from the Scottish Lowlands.

The peculiarity of this 1.2 Sweet Smoke lies in the aging, which the whisky is subjected. Although the most important “rest” occurs in traditional ex-Bourbon barrels, the spirit is first filled into smaller-sized ex-Bourbon barrels for a period ranging from 6 to 9 months.

  • ABV: 48,9%
  • Cask: ex-Bourbon
  • Age: NAS
  • No. of Bottles: not declared
  • Price: €50 – €100

TASTING NOTES AILSA BAY 1.2 SWEET SMOKE

Nose

intense aromas of bonfires and smoky notes, which stand out and are the undisputed protagonists. A note of oak wood is perceptible as well. Finally, the cedar wood and a fruity light note of pear are revealed.

Palate

particularly “soft”. It releases notes of vanilla and honey. It is rather sweet. Then the bonfire aroma, enriched with hints of cocoa. A mix of spices, with a certain structure, including cinnamon, supports the profile.

Finish

persistence is medium-long. Again, notes of bonfire. A smoked vein closes the drink.

Overall, the Ailsa Bay 1.2 Sweet Smoke is a sweet whisky, intense and has excellent balance. Despite the well-pronounced smoky component, it is easy to drink and easy to enjoy. The complexity, however, is not among the broadests.
