El Güegüense Churchill

El Güegüense Churchill

El Güegüense Churchill 1600 900 Luca Cominelli

The El Güegüense line is Nicholas Melillo’s homage to the Nicaraguan culture and heritage. It launched back in 2015 and was Foundation Cigars’ debut line. The all Nicaraguan blend comprises Corojo ’99 wrapper and binder over Corojo ’99 and Criollo ’98 filler tobaccos from Esteli and Jalapa.

The line is manufactured by Aganorsa Leaf, formally known as Tabacos Valle de Jalapa S.A. aka. TABSA. All six sizes are sold in 25-ct dress boxes.

El Gueguense Churchill1

The cigar is wrapped in an oily and gorgeous Colorado leaf. The construction is flawless with a generous filling.

El Güegüense Churchill: the cold draw releases scents of earth and spices. The opening confirms the spices, with rich peppery notes.

The first third delivers a broad flavor profile, consisting of nuts (first hazelnut and then walnut), earth, cocoa, and spices, among which black pepper stands out. The strength is a little above the medium (3.5/5).

In the central section, the flavor profile is confirmed. The spices are less powerful in this third, which is more elegant and creamy. Strength doesn’t change (3.5/5).

The final part of the smoke is all about earth and black pepper, enriched with balsamic herbs. Strength, once again, doesn’t change (3.5/5), and the finale, as the whole smoke, is well balanced.

Overall, the El Güegüense Churchill delivers an intense and fulfilling smoke. The balance is excellent from the first to the last puff. Compared to the other cigars belonging to the El Güegüense line, the Churchill size is the one with the least strength.
