Kilchoman has announced the new release of the Vintage 2010. It is the union of 42 ex-bourbon barrels and 3 ex-sherry barrels, all filled in the same year.
The malt was peated at 50 parts per million as is tradition for Kilchoman. Total number of bottles is limited to 15,000. This whisky has an ABV of 48%.
The tasting notes released by the Distillery speak of a peaty whisky in which fruity notes appear, close to the ex-Bourbon world (banana and vanilla) and with traces of ex-Sherry barrels (apricot and butter).
This Vintage edition is the fourth and final of the series and will be sold at £ 73.50.
Kilchoman is a distillery on the island of Islay, Scotland, and since its foundation in 2005 has been offering products often made with raw materials produced directly by the distillery. It is the only distillery in Islay and their malts have a peaty character. Production is small but recently has been expanded (for further detasils click here).
