The Yoichi Single Malt is a base product from the brand, made in the first Nikka distillery, founded in 1934. The founder, Masataka Taketsuru, chose to build the distillery in Yoichi (here it comes the brand’s name) in the Hokkaido prefecture, due to the ambiental conditions, similiar to the Scottish ones, where years before he learned the art of maklng whisky.

This whiskey is a single malt no age statement, which means there are no indications about how long the distillate was aged in the barrels.

Tasting notes YOICHI SINGLE MALT

Nose: rich notes of citrus, lemon and citron in particular. Then pear and ginger get developed as well. Lastly, marine hints comes to the nose, completing the aromatic palette.

Palate: the citrus notes are still well perceivale, but they result lighter than what they appeared to the nose. Now there are also some suave peaty and smoky notes.

Final: the persistente is short. Notes of wood and light peat are notiaciable.

Overall, the Yoichi Single Malt is an easy product to enojoy. Better performing to the nose, compared to the palate, it can ben considered a very good product to start the exploration of the Japanese terroir.
