The Wise Man Maduro line was created to offer a Maduro version to the El Güegüense brand. The cigar blend includes Nicaraguan tobacco for the filler and binder (for which a Jalapa cultivated Corojo 99 leaf is used) and a Mexican San Andres wrapper. The line offers six sizes, and the cigars are sold in 25-count boxes.
The cigars come dressed in Maduro-colored wrapper leaves and are box-pressed. Construction is excellent, and the cigars are generously and evenly filled.

The Wise Man Maduro Corona Gorda: unlit, it reveals aromas of cocoa. The opening is an explosion of cocoa beans, joined by a blast of spices, where black pepper stands out. There are also some hints of leather present in the aftertaste.
The first third continues with nutty aromas, where the walnut is in the foreground, cocoa, roasted aromas of espresso, and black pepper. Strength is full from the start (5/5).
In the second third, the profile changes to the earth and intense notes of balsamic herbs, followed by dark chocolate and intense notes of peanuts. Again, the finish is very long. Strength drops slightly while remaining on a medium-full level (4/5).
The final third confirms the profile of the cigar, as well as the strength (4/5). The finale releases balsamic herbs, and the spices return, which is again outlined in black pepper.
Overall, the Wise Man Maduro Corona Gorda is a full-flavored and full-bodied but manages to still be a balanced smoke. It gradually becomes less powerful in terms of strength, but the flavor intensity remains exceptional from start to finish. The evolution is very pronounced, and the finish is nothing short of exceptional, and it never seems to end. No wonder this cigar was voted the best Nicaraguan cigar of 2017.
