Sancho Panza Belicoso

Sancho Panza Belicoso

Sancho Panza Belicoso 1600 900 Giuseppe Mitolo

The Sancho Panza Belicoso has remained the only cigar in the catalog of this brand, that has a long history in Cuba. Although its birth dates back to the mid-1800s, over the years the portfolio has gradually decreased, especially after 2000. The only representative of the brand is the Belicoso, sold in 25-count boxes.

Sancho Panza Belicoso

The Belicoso is dressed in a bright Colorado wrapper with red reflections. To the touch, the wrapper is quite smooth with small veins present. The filling and the draw are good, as is the overall construction.

Sancho Panza Belicoso

Sancho Panza Belicoso: there are well-defined aromas of pepper, nuts, and wood present on the nose.

Sancho Panza Belicoso

Once lit, it starts out slightly sapid but also a bit bitter. An evanescent sensation of spiciness, which only sticks around for a few seconds. Pronounced notes of wood and nuts, with a nuance of earth. Strength is medium (3/5).

In the central section, the sapidity becomes more marked, while the bitterness remains unchanged. The wood is still present, while notes of earth and black pepper appear. Strength remains medium (3/5).

Compared to the second third, there is not much change in this last third. Both black pepper and wood are still present, enriched by a well-defined note of bitter almonds. Strength increases slightly, becoming medium-full (4/5).

Ultimately, this Sancho Panza Belicoso is a rustic smoke which however retains its own balance. Strength is the right counterpoint to a respectable flavor intensity. A bit of evolution between the last two thirds could have worked in favor of this Belicoso. The brand is not very widespread in world markets, but the Sancho Panza Belicoso is one of the Cubans not to be missed.
