Por Larranaga Picadores is the last cigar released under the Por Larranaga banner, launched in 2014. Its peculiarity is the band, different from the golden ones present on the brand’s other vitolas. The red and the gold with white lettering are inspired by the bands used in the 70s for the brand. The vitola de galera is Hermoso No. 4, a size that isn’t used much nowadays in Cuba, but which in the past had many representatives among the various brands. It is sold in 25-count dress boxes.
It is wrapped in a bright Colorado leaf with yellow reflections. To the touch, it is quite smooth, and the veins are fairly small. Construction is average, while the filling appears uniform.

On the palate, the first impact is sweet. It expresses notes of honey, nuts, and wood, all of good and equal intensity. Strength is medium (3/5).
A sapid component enriches the sweetness from the first third. It expresses aromas of wood and walnut, with hints of citrus also present. Strength remains unchanged (3/5).
The last third of the smoke is a long continuation of the previous third. Nothing varies, including strength.
In conclusion, the Por Larranaga Picadores is a simple and straightforward cigar with a flavor profile true to the brand. It lacks depth due to the contained evolution and unbalanced flavors between each other. However, due to the various tests carried out, we recorded a somewhat fluctuating consistency in production depending on the box and the year, so the vote also considers this last circumstance.
