Por Larrañaga Galanes

Por Larrañaga Galanes

Por Larrañaga Galanes 1600 900 Michel Arlia

The Por Larrañaga Galanes is the first vitola in the brand’s small portfolio (four sizes total) with a ring gauge over 50. While the cigar was on the list of releases for 2020, the new size didn’t reach international markets until March of this year.

The Galanes is sold in varnished semi boite nature boxes of 10 cigars.

Por Larranaga Galanes

The Colorado wrapper has a decent amount of tooth present, but the veins are minimal. Construction is generous and uniform without any soft spots.

Por Larranaga Galanes

Por Larrañaga Galanes: the cold draw brings woody and vegetal aromas to the palate. Once lit, the cigar opens immediately with creamy notes of hazelnut and wood.

Por Larranaga Galanes

The first third continues to be quite creamy, with dominant notes of hazelnut and wood. There is also some sweetness perceptible. Strength is medium-light (2/5).

In the second third, the hazelnut and wood combo remains the dominant flavors. A coffee note appears as well. The smoke reveals a bit of bitterness present in the retro-hale, but nothing off-putting. Strength grows to a medium level (3/5).

The flavor profile remains unchanged in the last third, except for the bitterness that has become quite marked. Strength is still medium (3/5).

Overall, the Por Larrañaga Galanes is true to the brand’s flavor profile, albeit not quite as complex. It is a smooth and creamy smoke for the first two-thirds, but it shows its youth towards the end.
