The Alma del Fuego Candente is the Robusto size of the line produced by Plasencia, in Nicaragua. The “Fuego” (fire) is due to the presence of leaves grown on the island of Ometepe in Nicaragua, famous for its volcanic soil, and for the spicy note that this tobacco gives to the blends in which it is used. The Toro size, the Concepción, is the second best cigar produced in Nicaragua in 2019 (more information in the 2019 Awards).
The cigars are wrapped in a colorado maduro wrapper, with reddish reflections. The construction is excellent and the cigar is slightly box-pressed.

Plasencia Alma del Fuego Candente: the cold draw reveals hints of earth and spices. Once lit, the cigar opens with notes of white pepper and earth.
The first third continues with notes of earth and white pepper perceived in the beginning, now enriched by a mineral aroma. Strength is medium (3/5).
In the second third, a mix of toasted notes (coffee), earth and spices develops. Leather and herbal nuances are now also perceptible. The mineral notes are still present, and are clearly perceptible in the background. Strength increases slightly (3.5/5).
The spices increase in intensity in the last third, with pronounced notes of black pepper and chili spice. Leather, coffee, earth and herbs are still present, but they follow behind the blast of spices. Strength grows, reaching a medium-full body (4/5).
Overall, the Plasencia Alma del Fuego Candente is a cigar that releases an intensity, but at the same time balanced, flavor profile. Evolutionary, with a broad range of flavors. This Robusto is a satisfying smoke. A large robust Nicaraguan.
