Jeremiah Meerapfel, the head of the famous Meerapfel family, has partnered with Ali Faieq Alzayani, son of late “Don” Faieq Ebrahim Alzayani, for a special cigar that celebrates the legacy of his father. The late Faieq Ebrahim Alzayani was a pioneer of cigars in the Arab world.
The Meerapfel’s will make their vast knowledge and tradition of 150 years in the tobacco business available. Together with Ali Faieq Alzayani, they will create a regional edition that celebrates the upcoming 50th anniversary of his father introducing cigars to Arabia. Faieq Ebrahim Alzayani introduced cigars to the region in the early 70s and handed over the business to Ali in 2009. Ali focused on diversification and introduced non-Cuban cigars.
“I am very excited about this groundbreaking project because it will tell the story of my father who was a pioneer in the world of cigars and traveled across the world to Cuba to bring back to the Arabian Peninsula some of the worlds finest cigars,” explained Mr. Alzayani and adds, “I wanted only the finest quality of tobacco to be used in this project to create a very special blend reminiscent of the Golden age of Cigars, and it is well known that for the best Tobacco you go to the Meerapfel family.”
“We don’t typically take on a private commission for another brand outside of our Selection Meerapfel Family Brands” explains Jeremiah Meerapfel “however, given our long relationship with the Alzayani family, we decided to celebrate this wonderful history and put our vast knowledge and resources into creating a truly wonderful Cigar.”
The cigar itself will be named “Don Faieq”. It will be produced at an undisclosed location of the Meerapfel family and the cigar will be available exclusively by invitation. The first production will be ready by mid-2022, further updates will follow.
