Lochside 1981 The Nectar of Daily Drams is a whisky distilled in 1981 and bottled after 29 years of aging. Established in 1781 for the production of beer and converted into a whisky distillery in 1957 by the hand of Joseph Hobbs. Today the distillery no longer exists, having been dismantled in 2005. The brand lives mostly through independent bottlers, just like in this case.

TASTING NOTES – LOCHSIDE 1981 THE NECTAR OF DAILY DRAMS

Nose

After a few minutes in the glass, intense notes of earth and mineral aromas emerge, followed by a touch of citrus fruits, mainly lemon zest. Then cereals. The alcohol component is perceptible, although the ABV is not particularly high. The flavor profile is completed with wood and spices.

Palate

It releases notes of seasoned wood and spices. Citrus fruits are also confirmed. It is slightly dry and bitter. Lastly, some hints of menthol.

Finish

Medium, with notes of spice, seasoned wood and a vegetal hint.

Overall, Lochside 1981 The Nectar of Daily Drams is endowed with a flavor profile of good complexity and structure, although the balance of this whisky is not particularly marked. The nose is at times almost pungent, despite the 29 years of age. The alcoholic component, although not particularly pronounced, is perceptible.
